is Random Digit Dialing. |
|
RDD is a common practice in the USA where telephone interviewing
was invented and is difficult to implement with other research methodologies
such as door-to-door interviewing. Considering the increase of unlisted
phone numbers and the attendant demographic problems, many clients
are demanding more representative sampling and RDD is one of the tools
that we can use to satisfy that requirement. |

In RDD, the last 4 numbers of a phone number are randomized
by computer. From our experience in using RDD, 60% of collected samples
are from numbers listed in the phone book and 40% are from unlisted
numbers. |
|
In addition to the above, Adams continues to respect respondents
privacy and be considerate of convenient times of day to call as well
as test new ways to gather even higher quality data. |
